Dr. Sougata Mukherjee completed his M.Tech (Research) and PhD from IISc Bangalore. His doctoral research focused on the application of reinforced anchors for transmission tower foundations, aiming to enhance stability of the tower under uplift and lateral forces. Additionally, his research interests include the application of probabilistic methods in geotechnical engineering. Following his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at IIT Bombay, where he investigated the stability of reinforced earth (RE) walls subjected to pseudostatic seismic loads through centrifuge experiments and numerical modelling.
