Dr. Sreeparvathy Vijay joined as an Assistant Professor in the Hydraulics and Water Resources division of the Civil Engineering Department at IIT Madras in 2023. She received her B. Tech degree in Civil Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology Kerala, in 2014. Soon after she continued towards her master's degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from IIT Hyderabad. Her interest in research persuaded her toward Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. She successfully defended her thesis in December 2022. Prior to joining IIT Madras, she worked as a Research Associate in Divecha Centre for Climate Changes at IISc. In her Ph.D. research, she dealt with the assessment and monitoring of various hydrometeorological variables for changing climatic conditions. She specializes in leveraging the advantages of various hydrological modeling tools, Global Circulation Models, remote sensing data products, and state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning techniques to provide advanced scientific and technical solutions to critical water-related problems. At IIT Madras she is looking forward to expanding her research endeavors and exploring diverse avenues to advance her expertise in the field of hydro-climatology by fostering inter-disciplinary collaborations.
