Sudheendra Herkal Sudheendra Herkal got his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees from IIT Madras and his Ph.D. from Rice University, USA. After his Ph.D., he briefly worked as Senior Engineer in the Applied Science practice at Thornton Tomasetti in New York before joining IIT Madras as an assistant professor. His research interests are use of adaptive stiffness systems for structural protection and vibration isolation, use of machine and deep learning tools for structural health monitoring, and origami engineering for structural applications.
