Prakash Singh Badal I am currently an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian
Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India. My research focus is on developing
next-generation seismic design standards to curb economic losses and downtime, in
addition to the loss of life. In a larger context, my research will focus on developing
tools to assess, mitigate, and prepare for multiple hazards. I will teach courses on
earthquake engineering, structural design, and definitions of design loads. Prior to
this, I was a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Michele Barbato at University of California
Davis. I also worked with Prof. Solomon Tesfamariam at the University of British
Columbia Okanagan. My doctoral advisor was Prof. Ravi Sinha at IIT Bombay.
