Dr.Soumendra Nath Kuiry is presently working as Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Department , Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His research emphasizes on areas like Developing an integrated model for simulating floods due to combined effect of heavy rainfall in the land area and storm surge in the ocean.Developing local inertial model for simulating urban floods.Conducting experiments in a river-network-floodplain set-up to study urban floods.Simulating sediment transport in rivers and estuaries.
