INSTRUMENTS

Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter :

Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) is used to measure instantaneous three dimensional velocities in river flow

Traverse System :

To hold ADV and LDV with possible movement in X,Y and Z directions

Flow meter :

To measure flow rate with an accuracy of ±0.5%

Laser Doppler Velocimeter :

Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) is used to measure instantaneous three dimensional velocity in river flow

SCADA System :

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) used to regulate flowrate in pipes

Digital Point Gauges :

To measure water surface elevation and bed level

Ultrasonic Bed Profiler :

To measure bed elevations and scour profile

V-Notch :

Measures flow rate

FLUMES

Rectangular glass walled flume of dimensions 9m x 1.5m x 0.3m used to conduct experiments on local scour around various types of spur dikes

Rectangular Flumes :

Rectangular glass walled flume of dimensions 9m x 1m x 0.8m used to conduct experiments on local scour around bridge piers

River Network Model

Scaled model of Adyarriver for analysis on urban floods

Nature Type Fish Passage Setup :

Rectangular glass walled flume of dimensions 9m x 1m x 0.8m used to conduct experiments on fish swimming capacity and design of nature type fish passages

Annular Flume :

Rotating Circular Flume used to measure suspended sediment concentration in sediment laden flows

River Confluence :

To study the impact of navigation on flow and sediment transport at river confluences
