| K Radhakrishna joined DRDO, Ministry of Defence, GoI, in 1988. I was Chief Engineer in the DRDO construction establishment for about 7 years before I superannuated as Director & Head of the establishment in 2023 after 35 years of service. During my career, I established defence infrastructure for DRDO and subsequently for the services.
Some of my significant infrastructure projects were the ATR Chitradurga, O-range facility Dundigal, Electronic Warfare Range Kurnool for DRDO and certain special infrastructure facilities for the services.
I have specialised in blast resistant design of structures. A major contribution in this area has been in the design, fabrication, installation, testing and validation of the design of large blast resistant doors.. This has led to import substitution and indigenisation of the doors. I hold a patent for this work.
I have introduced fast construction technology in DRDO with the CABS hangar Bangalore (85x81x18m high) pre-fab & precast facility. This was followed by the FCS facility Bangalore (130000 Sq ft, 7storey building) constructed in 45 days.
I have established temporary covid hospitals (with number of beds ranging from 500 to 1000) in 7 to 10 days each including round-the-clock operation & management of the hospitals during the pandemic. |
